On October 8th, 2022, RTFKT officially unveiled Project: Animus, its next major intellectual property initiative. Project: Animus introduced a new ecosystem of creatures designed to work in tandem with Clone X. The initial teaser video for Project: Animus showcased two such creatures, Juggernox and Jinx, accompanying Clone #1651 to a Research Facility Animus Egg nursery. The Animus Egg (aka Environmental Gestation Gizmo) is considered to be a state-of-the-art incubation chamber for artificial lifeforms. It is tamper-proof, suitable for trans-dimensional travel and can safely be infused with elemental energies.
Following the initial teaser, RTFKT hosted a two-part interactive live stream experience titled "The Eggsperience" on their official Twitch channel. This immersive event allowed community members to virtually explore an Animus Research Facility. Through live chat participation, viewers directly influenced the narrative and outcomes of the stream. The Eggsperience unfolded across two installments, part one on November 29th, 2022, and part two on November 30th, 2022.
Takashi Murakami's official involvement with Project: Animus was announced on April 30th, 2023 with the unveiling of Saisei, the first Murakami-themed Animus creature. This reveal coincided with the promotional poster for the GEISAI 22 event. The in-person event also offered a first glimpse at several additional Project: Animus creatures.
Starting on December 1st, 2022, Clone X holders were granted the exclusive opportunity to claim a complimentary Animus Egg via the RTFKT website. This claim period, allowing holders to acquire one Animus Egg per Clone X NFT, remained open until March 1st, 2024.
On May 7th, 2024, RTFKT hosted the month-long Animus Egg Incubation event which lasted until June 4th, 2024. This interactive experience allowed Clone X, Space Pod, Loot Pod, Exo Pod and Lux Pod holders to participate in a points-based system. By strategically leveraging their NFTs, community members could potentially increase their chances of hatching a rarer Animus creature.
On May 22nd, 2024, RTFKT initiated the Animus Egg Rescue Event to distribute the remaining previously unclaimed Animus Eggs. A transparent drawing system allocated the remaining supply of 2,668 eggs among Clone X holders who signed up via the provided sign up form. In recognition of their contributions, RTFKT also awarded 211 Animus Eggs to a handful of exceptional pre-selected community members.
The Project: Animus reveal process began on July 30th, 2024 and will be open indefinitely until further notice.
