The Cybersneaker was a unique, futuristic-looking digital sneaker that drew inspiration from the angular design elements of Elon Musk's Cybertruck. On October 9th, 2020, it sold for a then-record-breaking 30 ETH (Ethereum), which translated to roughly $90,000 at the time. This high price grabbed public attention and established RTFKT as a serious player in the high-end digital fashion space. The Cybersneaker gained even more notoriety when it was virtually worn by Elon Musk in a photoshopped image. This association with a major celebrity further fueled interest in the NFT and the concept of digital fashion. There was only one edition of the Cybersneaker NFT minted, making it a true one-of-a-kind digital collectible. Only two physical sneakers exist – one for the buyer, and one sent to Musk.
