On June 5th, 2021, RTFKT collaborated with Highsnobiety (formerly known as Paris Men’s Fashion Week) to create a series of NFT drops for the Not In Paris 3 event. This included eight Artist Edition Hoverboards, created just for the show, along with two Alien themed special edition Decentraland sneaker wearables. Additionally, a giveaway of 100 editions of the “Tour Alien,” the Eiffel Tower imagined as the Alien’s surveillance tower, was conducted.
On June 19th, 2021, Highsnobiety opened a pop-up shop at 198 Rue de Rivoli until June 26, 2021 where you could see the NFTs in action on a 3D holographic display and visitors could pick up a few posters and stickers. Anyone across the planet could also partake in RTFKT’s special Snapchat AR filters to try on virtual sneakers and take a spin on a hoverboard. As a bonus, RTFKT also created an AR filter of the real life artwork that really did destroy Paris, Paul McCarthy’s "The Tree".
The single-edition hoverboard NFTs were available for auction on SuperRare starting on June 21st,2021 at 7pm CET for 24 hours, with a reserve price of 0.5 ETH. The eight artists commissioned to create the Hoverboards are as follows: Dubai-based dystopian artist Yugal Odhrani, Hyperbeast illustrator Brock Hofer, French animator Eric Lefaure, Texas-based 3D artist No Paradigms, macabre artist Billelis, the cartoon-inspired illustrator Zaid Kirdsey, pixel artist Timpers, and 21 year old UK artist Defaced. In addition to the NFT, winners of the hoverboards received a LookingGlass portrait screen through which they can view the board and an "Alien Carapace Shiny Sneaker" NFT.
